Parrsboro girls lose in title game

The Parrsboro girl’s slopitch team gets a pep talk from their coaches.
SPRINGHILL – The Nova Scotia Schools Athletic Federation Division 3, 2013 Boys and Girls Slopitch Provincial Championships took place this weekend.
The boy’s tournament was in Springhill, where Parrsboro won, and the girl’s championship was in East Antigonish, where Parrsboro lost in the championship game.
The boy’s won the championship 17-3 over Inverness.
The road to the title went through St. Margarets Bay, who they beat 11-3; Springhill, who they beat 12-2; Inverness, who they beat 33-16; and Middleton, who they beat 4-3.
Parrsboro lost the girls championship game 8-6 to New Germany.
The girls started the tournament on Friday with a 13-0 win over Inverness; followed by an 18-8 win over New Germany.
On Saturday they beat Shelburne 11-1 and East Antigonish 8-0, before losing in the championship.
No other Cumberland County teams participated in the girl’s tournament but Springhill and Pugwash took part in the boy’s tournament.
Springhill beat Inverness 14-6 on Friday, followed by a 12-2 loss to Parrsboro. On Saturday they lost 17-16 to St. Margarets Bay.
Pugwash lost 10-2 to Middleton on Saturday and beat New Germany 17-16 on Saturday.
