Green Smith edge IMP in men’s slopitch

Jager Bomb player Matt Keddy hit a fly ball while playing against the Cumberland Reds during Amherst Men’s Slopitch League action Wednesday night on the Robb’s 2 field in Amherst. Keddy’s fly ball was caught and he was called out on the play. 

AMHERST – The IMP Aerostructures, Steelworkers and the Green Smith team had to go to extra innings to decide the second game of their Amherst Men’s Slopitch League double header Tuesday night at Robb’s Centennial complex.

The game was decided in the eighth inning with Green Smith edging IMP 19-18.

Tom Skabar hit a home run for Green Smith, and Matt Benjamin hit a triple and a three singles. Tom Brander, Ben Smith, Trevor Waterfield and Kenny Hope hit three singles each.

Ronnie Ross hit two home runs for IMP in the loss, while Kyle Remington hit a triple and a single.

Green Smith won the first game by a score of 22-17.

Benjamin hit a home run for Green Smith in the first game, while Waterfield and Kris Allen hit a double and two singles.

Chris McIsaac, Jeremy Edwards and Cody Hunter each hit home runs for IMP.

– Atlantic Kia vs. Free Agents

Atlantic Kia dominated the Free Agents Tuesday night.

Aubrey Neves hit a home run and two singles in the first game, a 14-3 win, while Scott Reid hit a double and single, and Steve Brander and Lindsay McCulley each hit three singles.

Mike Van Snick hit a double and a single for the free agents.

McCulley hit 2 doubles for Kia in the second game, a 20-5 win, and Nick Warren added a double and two singles.

Jay Pilgrim, Rob Zendicki and Mike Champman each hit two singles for the Free Agents.

- Cumberland Reds vs. Free agents

The Free Agents didn’t do as well Monday night, and were almost totally shut down by the Cumberland Reds.

Luke Crocker and Steve Brown hit a home run, a double and a single in their first game, a 15-0 loss. Jason Hoeg added a home run and a single.

Jay Pilgrim hit a double for the Free Agents.

The Free agents did score a run in the second game, a 23-1 loss, off a single by Benjamin. Marshal Terrio hit a double.

Shane O’Byrne hit a home run a triple and a double in the win, and Devin Moore hit a home run and three singles.
