Four teams combine for 27 home runs

AMHERST – The Amherst Men’s Slopitch League’s 2013 season kicked off Tuesday night with high scoring contests between the Cumberland Reds and Atlantic Kia, and with IMP pounding the Sackville Brew Jays.

The Reds beat Kia by scores of 21-19 and 32-20.

Shane O’Byrne led the Res in their 21-19 win with three home runs.

Also hitting home runs was Glenn Marks and Jason Hoeg.

Hitting single home runs for Kia was Brad Webb, Scott Reid, Jeremy Webb, Lindsay McAully, Chris Manship and Aubrey Neves.

Steve Brown led Cumberland in their 32-20 win with three home runs, while Devin Moore and Malcolm Estabrooks hit two home runs each, with Marks adding one home run.

McAully led Kia with two home runs, while Steve Chase, Brad Webb, Zachary Webb, Manship and Sean Brown hit one home run each.

IMP beat Sackville by scores of 19-2 and 16-1.

Dave Burke hit a home run, a two doubles and a single in their 16-1 win, and Brian Hebert hit a home run and a double.

Keegan MacKinnon, James Divine and Kent Blenkhorn each hit singles for the Brew Jays.

Burke hit two doubles and a single and Chris McIsaac hit a triple and two singles in their 19-2 win.

Tyler Lutes, Chris Rice and MacKinnon hit one single each for the Jays.
