Amherst Men's League Slopitch Season begins Tuesday

AMHERST-The Amherst Men's Slopitch League season gets under way on Tuesday, May 21 at Robbs Centennial Complex in Amherst starting at 6:30 pm.

Eight teams have registered to play for the 2013 season, up from 5 teams in 2012.

Returning teams include IMP Aerostructures/Steelworkers, Sobeys and the Cumberland Honda Reds who played last season under the lights in Moncton.

New teams include Atlantic Kia, Jager Bombs, Sackville Brew Jays, Green Smith and the Free Agents, a team made up of players who could not find a team to play on.

Conspicuous by their absence from the Amherst Men's Slopitch Softball League this season are Money's Worth who won the Amherst Men's League title last season.

On Tuesday night, IMP hosts the Sackville Brew Jays in home and away  doubleheader action on Robbs 1 while the Cumberland Honda Reds challenge Atlantic Kia on the "Homer Dome" (Robbs 2) in twin bill slopitch softball action.

The remaining teams begin their season Wednesday: The Jager Bombs take on Green Smith on Robbs 1 while Sobeys plays the Free Agents on Robbs 2.

All games begin at 6:30 pm. Rained out games will be played on Friday nights.

The games are a lot of fun for people wanting something to do on a nice evening. Bring the kids down and see a game or two.
