SACKVILLE, N.B. – Mount Allison University’s head football coach Kelly Jeffrey was recently named the Team East Head Coach for the Canadian Interuniversity Sport East-West Bowl.

The Mounties’ defensive co-ordinator Scott Brady will also be part of Jeffrey’s staff, serving as defensive co-ordinator for the nation’s 11th-annual prestigious bowl game which will be played at TD Waterhouse Stadium in London, Ont., on Saturday at 2 p.m. It will be streamed on CIS-SIC.tv.

The game features over 80 of the top football players in the CIS who are eligible to be drafted by the Canadian Football League in 2014.

Over the past three years the East team (Atlantic and Quebec universities, Toronto, Queen’s, and Ottawa) has won the bragging rights over the West squad, represented by the remaining Ontario university teams and Canada West universities.

Jeffrey is extremely pleased to be representing the East team as head coach, working with over 15 other university coaches who are assisting with the week’s program.

“To be involved with university football at this elite, national level is a great opportunity. It is especially enhanced by the inclusion of the CFL and its coaches in the week’s practices, drills, mentoring, and clinic offerings,” Jeffrey said. “Scott (Brady) and I will benefit from the knowledge gathered throughout the week, and look forward to an even more successful Mounties’ season in 2013, and another return to the AUS playoffs.”

Mounties’ players participating in the game include running back Jordan Botel, receiver Josh Blanchard, defensive lineman Quinn Everett and punter/wide receiver Kyle McLean.
