Amherst Golf Club manager Frank McShane announced the club is looking to start the season next Friday, but golfers looking to book their tee-time can do so early by booking a tee time on the clubs website, www.amherstgolfclub.com. Anyone who wants to can also stop by the club’s pro shop and use one of their computers to book their time or have staff walk them through the process.
AMHERST – It’s looking like golf season is about to get underway at the Amherst Golf Club.
General manager Frank McShane says the range is now open and if everything goes according to plan the course will be open next Friday, May 3, making it an average start for the club.
“The last few years we had better springs, but for a 20-year historical average this is normal,” McShane said. “Last year was a little early because we had good weather in March.”
The earliest McShane can remember the Amherst Golf Club opening was the same week as the Masters, which usually takes place on the weekend in the middle of April.
To get the Amherst Golf Club spiffed up for the proposed Friday start, the club is calling on members to join in on a cleanup day this Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members who can spare a few hours to help is invited and if they have a rake are asked to bring it with them.
