Amherst snowboarder Jake Adams recently won bronze at a competition at Ski Wentworth.

AMHERST – Amherst’s Jake Adams recently won a bronze medal during the C-S Riders Snowboardcross competition held at Ski Wentworth.

It was the first competition Adams had entered.

“It felt good to win a bronze medal,” said the 10-year-old who is in Grade-5 at Spring Street Academy.

Adams has been snowboarding for four years and is a participant in the Wentworth Snowboard League, which is a competitive snowboard program for intermediate and advanced riders.

Adams competed in the 8-10-year-old division and says the competition involved, “going down the hill, going around gates and going through gates.”

He says he likes going off jumps and his ultimate dream would be to compete in snowboarding at the Olympics some day.

Adams also swims and plays baseball with Amherst Little League but says snowboarding is his favourite sport.

“I go every Saturday,” he said.
