Richard ties game and scores shootout winner

YARMOUTH - The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers continued their torrid play Friday, defeating the Yarmouth Mariners 3-2 in a shootout in Maritime Junior Hockey League action.

Maxime Richard had the shootout winner for the Ramblers and scored the tying goal with just 11 seconds to play in the third period.

The win was the first over Yarmouth this season and caps off a week in which the Ramblers took two straight from the Truro Bearcats.

Brock Morrison also scored for Amherst, while Danny Harquail, Jeff MacPherson, Kody Orr and Brett Shute each added assists.

Brandon Bussey and Paul Lamoureux replied for the Mariners.

Amherst outshot the Mariners 37-30.

The Ramblers return to action on Saturday when they host the Metro Shipbuilders at the Amherst Stadium at 7 p.m.

Amherst is now just one point behind Truro for second place and three poitns back of first-place Yarmouth.
