Amherst Selects beat Halifax, Dartmouth

AMHERST – The Amherst Mini Girl Selects won all four of their games against Halifax and Dartmouth Sunday at Cumberland North Academy and Spring Street Academy.

The Grade Six Selects beat the Dartmouth Celtics 39-14 in their morning game at Spring Street, and then beat the Halifax Martyrs 52-22 in their afternoon game at Cumberland North.

The Grade 5 Selects beat Halifax 33-29 in overtime in the morning at Cumberland North, and then in the afternoon they beat Dartmouth 36-29 at Spring Street.

Scores and scorers are as follows:

Cumberland North Academy

Grade 6

52-22

Jordan Janes led the selects with 21 points against the Martyrs, followed by Kayla Hatfield with eight, Ceilidh Bennett with six, Ivy Partridge with five points, Darcy Gould with four points, Adrianna O’Quinn and Hilary Mapplebeck with three each, and Rachel Robitza with two points.

Grade 5

Selects win 33-29 in overtime

Lauren Furlong scored 11, followed by Keira Dyck with six, Olivia Scott with four, Amber Burbine, Ashley Ripley and Bryley Fadden with two each and Rebecca Fromm with one point.

Furlong and Scott scored two points each in overtime to give the Selects a 33-29 win over the Martyrs.

Spring Street

Grade 6

Select win 39-14

Darcy Gould scored 11 points, Ceilidh Bennett scored eight, Deanna Brown 6, Hilary Mapplebeck, Rachel Robitza and Victoria Webb with four points each, and Ivy Partridge with two points.

Grade 5

Selects win 36-29

Lauren Furlong scored 13, followed by Keira Dyck with 10, Daneka Thorpe with six, Olivia Scott with five, and Mallory Carr scored two.
