Cronkhite, Peters are Mount A’s athletes of the week

SACKVILLE, N.B. – Ericka Cronkhite of the Volleyball Mounties and Mikhel Peters of the Swimming Mounties are this week’s Mount Allison University Athletes of the Week.

Cronkhite is the female athlete of the week. She was a defensive standout at the 12-team post-Christmas volleyball tournament held in Quebec at CEGEP Limoilou over the past weekend.

A 5'3" libero with the Volleyball Mounties, Cronkhite comes from Fredericton, where she is a former student-athlete with Fredericton High School.

A dominant player over her high school and university careers, Cronkhite was a first-team ACAA all-star last year and the league's Libero of the Year. She is currently enrolled in her fourth year of the environmental science program at Mount Allison.  

Also nominated this week was Zoée LeBlanc of the Swimming Mounties.

Peters is the male athlete of the week for his individual gold medal performances in the 100 fly and the 100 backstroke events at the Citrus Classic swim meet in Phoenix, AZ. He was also a member of the gold medal 4X50 medley relay team and the second-place 4x50 free relay team.

The meet was held over the holiday period and hosted teams from Simon Fraser, University of New Hampshire, St. John's College, University of South Dakota, Cal U, Saint Mary's, Western Illinois University, and U Conn.

A resident of Sackville, and a past Tantramar Regional High School athlete, the 6'2" Peters is in his third year of history at Mount Allison, and is also a former high school basketball, cross country, and swimming star.

Also nominated was Ben Chisholm of the Basketball Mounties who was selected as an all-star at the Dyrick McDermott Invitational tournament in Halifax over the weekend.
