SUMMERSIDE – The Amherst Regional High School Vikings defeated the Bluefield Bobcats 77-68 for a fifth place finish at the 20th annual Three Oaks Senior High School Christmas Classic in Summerside.

Top Vikings scorers in the fifth place game were Adrian VanVulpen with 19 points, and Caleb Hayes and Jason Morse with 12 points each.

Willie Legere was named player of the game for Amherst.

Amherst lost their two round robin games before beating the Bobcats.

Jason Morse provided a shot for the highlight reel in their 71-70 loss to the Colonel Gray Colonels.

Morse sank a final second, buzzer beating shot from centre court, drawing his team to within one point of Colonel Gray.

Logan Dowe scored 18 points in the game and Hayes scored six points. 

Dowe was named player of the game for Amherst.

VanVulpen scored 18 points in the Vikings 72-54 loss to the Charlottetown Rural Raiders. Hayes scored 16, and Matt McCrossin scored 15.

VanVulpen was the player of the game for Amherst.
