Drop one-point decision in opener

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – The Amherst Regional High School Vikings are winless after opening day action at the Three Oaks Christmas Classic Basketball Tournament in Summerside, P.E.I.

Steven Seviour had 18 points to lead the Charlottetown Rural Raiders to a 72-54 win over the Vikings in action Friday afternoon. Jack MacAulay had 12.

Adrian VanVulpen led the way for Amherst with 18 points while Caleb Hayes had 16 and Matt McCrossin had 15.

Rural led 37-20 at the half.

In the opener, Amherst lost a tight 71-70 decision to the Colonel Grey Colonels of Charlottetown.

Joe Burey had 27 points for Colonel Grey and Jeff Morrison added 21.

Logan Dowe led Amherst with 18 points and Hayes had six.
