SPRINGHILL - The Cumberland County Blues will be a different shade of Blue when they hit home ice on Sunday.
Gone is Blues captain Liam Carr, Blues veteran Geoff Burke and Devon Muir, and in their stead is a new crop of players.
"We have made nine player changes since our last home game, so this is an opportunity for fans to come out and have a look at our new lineup," said Blues General Manager Terry ‘Mouser' McManaman. "We feel that we have a solid lineup now that can challenge for a playoff spot and are capable of having a long playoff run."
Carr, Burke and Muir are now playing for the Brookfield Elks and have been replaced by newly acquired players Kyle Mackenzie, Jon Tattrie, Ryan Ingraham, Zach Anderson, and John Drolet, as well as Nicholas Doucette who comes to the Blues from the East Hants Penguins.
The Blues will also have former Amherst Ramblers forward Serge Boisvert making his Springhill debut Sunday in Springhill against the Glace Bay Miners.
"Boisvert's speed and work ethic will make him a fan favorite in Springhill," said McManaman.
McManaman also says Amherst's Jessie Colborne has been on a roll lately.
"We need him to keep playing hard now that Burke, Carr, and Muir have departed for Brookfield."
The Blues travel to Port Hawkesbury on tonight to face the Pirates. Jessie Cox will get the start in goal.
The Blues travelled to Port Hawkesbury last Friday as well and came home with a 4-3 win in a shootout.
Tyler Gould, Paul Gulliver and Ryan Ingraham scored for the Blues in regulation, while Gil Murdock and Boisvert scored for the Blues in the shootout.
Scoring assists in regulation was Murdock, Jesse Colborne, Zach Black, and MacKenzie. Blues goalie Matt Caron faced 37 shots, while his teammates had 18 shots on Pirates goaltender Luke Jessop.
Blues coach Rob McLure said the Blues might have a couple regular players missing Friday night as several players have Christmas exams, but he is expecting everyone to be eligible for Sunday's home game.
Caron will get the nod for Sunday's home game against the Glace Bay Miners.
The Blues have played the Miners twice this season.
They beat Glace Bay 5-4 in a shootout Nov. 3, and then lost 5-4 in a shootout the following week in Springhill.
Sunday's game starts at 2:30 p.m.
