Vikings go 1-1-1 at Cameron Memorial tournament

Defeat CEC, tie Dr. J.H. Gillis

NEW GLASGOW – The ARHS Vikings dropped a 2-0 decision to the Northumberland Nighthawks and were eliminated from the 13th Annual Allen Cameron Memorial High School Hockey Tournament on Saturday.

The Vikings finished with a win, tie and a loss.

On Friday night, Andrew Skinner and Stephen Belyea each scored two goals and Evan MacKenzie picked up the shutout as the ARHS Vikings defeated the CEC Cougars from Truro.

Joel St. Peters, MacKenzie Colford and Michael Patterson added assists.

Earlier Friday, the Vikings tied the Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals from Antigonish 3-3.

Peter Kane scored with just 7.5 seconds to tie the game with Andrew Skinner and Ryan Hunter adding assists.

The Vikings trailed 2-0 after the first period, but got goals from MacKenzie Colford and Alex VanSnick to tie it up. Corey Hunter had two assists and Skinner and VanSnick added single assists.

The Royals scored with 49 seconds left in the game to take a 3-2 lead before Kane tied it.
