TRENTON – The Cumberland County Blues lost 8-1 to the Pictou County Scotians during Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League action Sunday night at the Trenton Arena.

The Scotians went up 1-0 after the first period, 5-0 after the second period and then 7-0 in the third period before the Blues made it a 7-1 game off a goal by Zach Black with 6:52 left in the period. Aaron Crocker assisted on the goal.

The Scotians added one more goal with 2:02 left in the game.

Brandon Verge scored three goals and three assists for the Scotians, Bradley MacEachern scored two goals and four assists, and Lucas Eshleman had two goals and one assist.

Shots on goals was 47-33 in favour of the Scotians.

The penalty count was high.

The first period saw one penalty by each team, in the second period each team had five penalties, and in the third period the Blues had five penalties, while the Scotians had eight.

The Blues play one game next weekend when they travel to East Hants to play the Penguins.
