PARRSBORO – The Cumberland County Community Credit Union Midget Female Ramblers had their winning way come to a screeching halt at the Harrison’s Tournament held at the Lions Arena here over the weekend, dropping a 2-0 contest to the host Parrsboro Predators.

The Preds were up 1-0 after the opening frame in the semi-final, and had extended it to 2-0 heading into the final frame to earn a berth in the finals against the eventual tournament champion Sussex Rangers, who blanked the hosts 2-0.

Tor McCrindle earned the ace in the Preds net, while Jennie Underwood suffered the loss in the Cumberland goal.

On Saturday, the Ramblers had jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Sussex Rangers on the strength of Sydney Skinner’s goal, but it would be all they got as the Rangers roared back with three unanswered goals of their own to topple the bank squad.

Casie Skidmore and Adele Mansour each picked up an assist on the Skinner goal, and Jennie Underwood suffered the loss in the Rambler net.

Cumberland’s second game of the day ended in a shoot-out with the Ramblers coming up on the short end with a 3-2 loss to the Parrsboro squad.

The Preds had tied the game in the dying seconds with the goalie on the bench in favor of the extra attacker, and then deposited their first two attempts in the shootout behind Underwood and sealed the victory after stoning the first two Rambler shooters.

Cumberland is looking to rebound back to their winning ways this weekend in league action when they travel to Trenton to face the Pictou County Subway Selects in a 2 pm contest at the Trenton Arena.
