AMHERST - Adrian VanVulpen scored 18 points to lead the Amherst Regional High School Vikings basketball team to a 60-51 victory over the Tantramar Titans today at ARHS.

"It was an ugly win," said Vikings coach Matt Gamblin after the game.

Gamblin said his team still has a lot to learn.

"We need more defensive pressure and we can't have as many turnovers."

Also scoring for the Vikings was Jason Morse with 14 points, followed by Caleb Hayes with eight, Ryan Thompson with seven, Josh Lee with five, Shaddy Mohamad with four, and Willie Legere and Logan Dowe with two each.

The Amherst Regional High School Vikings host Carters Cresting Vikings Invitational tip-off tournament beginning Friday.

Gamblin hopes a lot of people come out for the tournament.

There will also be a canteen.

The tournament schedule is as follows:

FRIDAY

4:15 p.m. - Pugwash vs. Tantramar

6 p.m. - Amherst vs. Charlottetown

7:15 p.m. - Pugwash vs. Breton Education Centre

SATURDAY

10 a.m. - Amherst vs. BEC

12 p.m. - Charlottetown vs. Pugwash

2 p.m. - BEC vs. Charlottetown

4 p.m. - Amherst vs. Pugwash
