AMHERST – The Cumberland County Albion Auto Centre Ramblers opened the 2012-2103 regular season over the weekend dropping a pair of games to the Acadia Axemen in Mainland Peewee AA League action.
The Ramblers were down a couple players to start the season. Jordan Harrison is out with a broken collarbone and Micheal Farrow was out with flu-like symptoms.
On Sunday, the Axemen defeated the Ramblers 4-1. Tanner Bowen scored in the first period for the Ramblers, converting on a pass from Kyle Walker.
Acadia scored later in the period and added three in the second period to take a 4-1 lead.
Dawson Gallagher was solid in nets for the Ramblers, making some key saves to keep it close.
On Saturday in Canning, the Ramblers dropped an 8-2 decision.
The Ramblers played strong positional hockey through the first period and only trailed 1-0.
Bowen tied the game on a slapshot with Josh Black adding an assist.
Acadia scored two goals before the period to take a 3-1 lead, but exploded for five goals in the final period as the Ramblers ran into penalty problems.
Mats Stone set up Zack Chatfield, whose shot went into the net off the post.
The Ramblers return to action Saturday in Amherst when the Ramblers face the West Hants Warriors at 12:30 p.m.
