Amherst Red Sox player Mackenzie LeBlanc went for the tag but the New Glasgow player, Michael Prosper, was called safe at the plate during the Baseball Nova Scotia District Bantam A championship final Sunday afternoon in Amherst.

AMHERST – The Amherst Red Sox beat New Glasgow 17-9 in the Baseball Nova Scotia Northumberland District Bantam A Championship final Sunday afternoon in Amherst.

The third inning was the difference in the game, where the Red Sox scored 11 runs.

New Glasgow made it to the final after beating Parrsboro 4-3 in Sunday morning’s tiebreaker. New Glasgow scored three of their four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

With the win, Amherst advances to the Baseball Nova Scotia provincials Aug. 24-26 in Aylesford.
