Mixers deliver Cubs first loss of season

Josh Sperry was on the mound for the Mixers in their win against the Cubs last night on the Landry little league field.

AMHERST – The Cumberland Paving Cubs suffered their first loss of the Amherst Little League 2012 season, after losing 7-6 to the Casey Concrete Mixers.

Josh Sperry pitched the win for the Mixers, striking out 16 batters, while giving up two hits and six walks.

Seth George hit a double for the Mixers, and Jackson Colborne, Jill Gallant, Sperry and Josh Arsenault all hit singles in the win.

Sam LeBlanc pitched for the Cubs. He struck out 10 batters, while giving up five hits and six walks.

Spencer Moreau and Josh Nichol each hit a single for the Mixers.

The second game of the night was also close, with the Y’s Guys edging the Lions 6-5 on the Foster field.

Nate Stone was on the mound for the Y’s Guys. He struck out 10 batters, and gave up five hits and four walks.

Mackenzie Comeau hit a triple, and Zac Boudreau and Colson Brown both hit doubles.

Aaron Sjanic hit two singles, and Brady Crowe, Tyler Baker, Jackson Comeau and Stone each hit one single.

Mike Farrell pitched for the Lions. He struck out 10 batters, giving up nine hits and six walks.

Cole Stevens hit two singles for the Lions, and Farrell, Aiden Devine and Mats Stone each hit one single.

Amherst Little League continues tonight.
