Blues rally back, lose in shootout to Bulldogs

SPRINGHILL – The Cumberland County Blues almost came back from a 4-0 deficit but ended up losing 6-5 in a shootout to the Antigonish Bulldogs during Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League action last night in Springhill.

Down 4-0 late in the second period, the Blues scored three goals in a little over three minutes and the period ended with the Bulldogs up 4-3.

Chad Butts got the first Blues goal off assists from Jordie Shaw and Josh Coleman, Devon Muir scored the second off a pass from Liam Carr, and then Carr scored the third with helpers from Connor Marsh and Muir.

The Blues tied the game 4-4 with 10:47 left in the game but the Bulldogs went up 5-4 a little over a minute later.

The Blues made it a 5-5 game with 4:14 left in the game when Cody Taker scored with assists from Matt Noiles and Zach Carson.

The game went to overtime and nobody could put the puck in the net, and then the game went to a shootout and the Bulldogs won 6-5.

Blues goaltender Charles Dubuc faced 38 shots, while the Blues had 42 shots at Bulldogs goaltender Derrick Tait.
