AMHERST - Amherst's Ryan Mackintosh has been nominated for a 2011 Inside Track Magazine Reader's Choice Award.

The 15-year-old, who is racing Allison Legacy cars out of Kannapolis, N.C., has been nominated in the category of Up and Coming Stock Car Driver of the Year.

Last year's winner was NASCAR Nationwide and ARCA standout Steve Arpin.

"It is really exciting to be considering in this category," Mackintosh said in an email from his racing team's headquarters in North Carolina.

The former INEX Bandolero standout finished his 2011 rookie season in the Allison Legacy Touring Series in fifth place overall.

The coming year has Mackintosh competing in the Allison series again and select Late Model and INEX Legend Car events throughout the United States and Canada.

Mackintosh is one of six nominees for the award including Brandon Steen, Scotia Speedworld Legends champion Dylan Blenkhorn, Alex Montminy of Quebec, Lane Zardo and Noel Dowler, who made 10 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series starts in 2011.

Voting continues through Jan. 25 with the winners being announced in an upcoming issue of the magazine.

People can vote for Mackintosh by going to the magazine's website at www.insidetracknews.ca or clicking the Inside Track link at www.ryanmackintoshracing.com.
