AMHERST – The Midget AAA Cumberland County Ramblers lost 7-4 to the Bedford Blues in the Midget AAA final during the final game at the 46th annual Carter’s Sports Cresting Bluenose Minor Hockey Tournament Sunday at Amherst Stadium.

Bedford took a 4-2 lead by the end of the first period and the Ramblers were never able to close the gap.

Jerico MacPhee and Ramblers captain Zac Black scored in the first period, with Mitchell Speight and Jordan Mont assisting on the MacPhee goal, and Matt Beal getting the helper on the Black goal.

The second period ended with the Blues up 6-4. Black scored his second of the game, which was unassisted, and then Alex Vansnick scored mid-way through the period off assists from Peter Kane and Black.

Bedford scored the lone third period goal.

The Midget AAA Ramblers made it into the final off wins against the Blues on Saturday and the Glace Bay Miners on Friday.

Black scored a hat trick plus an assist in their 5-2 win against Bedford on Saturday, with Kane and Zack Perrin adding one goal each. Kane scored two assists in the game, with single assists going to Perrin, MacPhee and Vansnick.

Brandon Archibald faced 20 shots, while his teammates fired 14 shots at the Blues net.

In their 7-2 win over Glace Bay the Ramblers went up 4-1 in the first off goals from Black, MacPhee, Stephen Belyea and Beal, with Black, Nic Chapman and Beal scoring in the second period. Perrin had three assists in the game, with single assists going to Belyea, Kane and Pat Quinn.

Archibald faced eight shots, while his teammates had 25 shot on the Miners net.

The Ramblers lost their first game of the tournament 4-1 against the Truro Bearcats.

Black scored the Ramblers lone goal, with MacPhee scoring the assist on the play.

Ramblers goaltender, Luc Chapman, faced 20 shots, while his teammates fired 13 shots at the Truro net.

In other Midget AAA action it was the Bearcats beating the Miners 6-1, Bedford beating Truro 3-0, and Bedford beating the Miners 2-1.
