Under-18 boys advance to ESL championship game

AMHERST - The Fundy United’s under-18 boys soccer team beat Sackville, N.B. by a score of 2-0 during Eastern Soccer League playoff action last night at Amherst Regional High School.

The goals were scored by John Pike and Cory Zollner, with Jeff Goodwin getting the shutout in goal.

With the win, the team plays the ESL championship game Wednesday at 7 p.m. at ARHS.

The team also defeated Pictou 1-0 in a Highland Soccer League, under-18 boys soccer, playoff game on Sunday and will represent the Highland Region at the provincials next weekend in Dartmouth. The game-winning goal in that game was scored by Nick Wolfe early in the second half.
