PARRSBORO – Parrsboro will try to qualify for the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 4 girls basketball championship when it hosts a qualifying tournament this weekend.
Parrsboro will play against Inverness at 5 p.m., while Baddeck plays North Queens at 7 p.m.
Both winners will advance and will play against each other Saturday at 10 a.m., with the victor getting a higher seeding for the provincial tournament. The losers on Friday will meet Saturday at noon, with the winner of that game off to provincials
Several other Cumberland County basketball teams will also try to qualify for the provincials this weekend.
In Division 3 play, the Springhill Golden Eagles boys basketball team travels to Bridgetown where it will face New Germany at 5 p.m.
The winner of that game will play Saturday at 10 a.m., while the loser of that game plays at noon.
In Division 4 boys, Oxford and Pugwash will travel to Armbrae Academy in Halifax.
Pugwash plays against Beau-Port today at 2 p.m., while Oxford plays Inverness at 4 p.m.
Pugwash plays again at 6 p.m. against Pictou, while the Golden Bears play at 8 p.m., against Armbrae.
Pugwash and Oxford, who are in separate pools, could face each other in the championship game, which goes Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the provincials.
