The Springhill Mini Screaming Eagles overcame a 14 point deficit from half-time to win their first ever Cumberland Westmoreland Division A League Championship. This is the first year for the Springhill girls in the league. The girls started out their season with little experience but improved with every game. After losing the first game Thursday night in the round-robin, Springhill went on to defeat Cumberland North on Friday, then Oxford and Pugwash on Saturday. By this point, we had already exceeded our expectation in defeating teams we were unable to beat in the regular season. says coach Scott. In the Championship game, Rachel Chevarie led the attack for CNA and seemed unstoppable in the first half. In the second half of the game, everybody from the Springhill squad came together and narrowed the lead. Rachael Terris, tournament MVP, ensured the win with strong play on both ends of the court.
