SPRINGHILL - Joining the Cumberland County Blues this year has proved to be a great experience for Geoff Burke, who is playing on the same line as his brother Dave.
"It's been awesome playing on the same team," said Burke.
Before this year the 18-year old Geoff had never played on the same team as the 20-year old Dave.
"Though we played on different teams I always tried to keep up with him in points but it didn't usually work out good for me," Burke said. "We've never been in the same league to compare the same year's so it was hard to compare us but while growing up we always bragged about different stuff."
When asked whom the more skilled player is Geoff said, "I'm a dirtier player than him but he's definitely more skillful."
The two grew up playing all kinds of sports and although Dave might be more skillful, Geoff said he's more competitive.
Last Friday two opposing players checked Geoff hard near the blue line and his brother jumped one of the players.
"When I saw that it was him down there punching the guy I was kind of surprised," Burke said. "I kind of expected somebody to do it but not him."
Geoff said that, while growing up, Dave and him argued a lot, "but since we've been like 15 or 16 we haven't argued so much."
Did they used to get into fistfights?
"Oh yeah, we got in fistfights all the time," Burke said.
Who had the worst temper growing up?
"I have a temper but when he goes nuts I don't go near him," Burke said.
And how does Burke like playing in Springhill?
"I love playing with the Blues. It's a hockey town up here."
