SPRINGHILL: It was five weeks of fun and games for forty Springhill youth who took part in the Summer Fun Camps program through Springhill Leisure Services from July 8 to August 8.
The youth took part in a variety of activities from crafts to a day trip to Shubenacadie Wildlife Park and the Victoria Park swimming pool.
During the five weeks there was a theme for each week beginning with exploration week. The following weeks consisted of wacky water weeks (two of them), music and art week, activity extravaganza week, be wild and weird week bringing the group to the final party which will be a barbeque party for the children.
"I had fun on the trip to Shubenacadie Wildlife Park," Brianne Casey on of the children participating in the program said.
"While we were at the park I got a peacock feather and it's really colourful at the back," Brianne excitedly explained what her feather looked like.
Really enjoying the day Brianne also mentioned that she jumped off the diving board at the Victoria Park swimming pool.
While Brianne enjoyed the trip the most Alexandra MacLeod said she liked the finger painting the best.
"We got to paint with our fingers," Alexandra said.
"The summer went extremely well, we tried to fit a little bit of everything in to give the kids a bit of variety in the activities," director of Leisure Services Pam Adams said.
The director said they are very pleased with the turnout this summer, all forty spots were full.
