March 17 - The Pugwash Volunteer Fire Department will host the inaugural St. Patricks Day Beer Garden. Brian England will perform from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pugwash Fire Hall and the event will feature Irish entertainment, Irish stew, hamburgers, hotdogs and refreshments.

Benefit Dance for Brown family

March 17 A benefit dance for Jimmy Brown and family will be held at the Joggins Fire Hall from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring the music of Ricky Dwyer and Friends. Brown lost his home in a recent fire.

Hip hop artist performing

March 17 - ECMA Hip Hop artist Sko-Shun Ties will perform during March Break Saturday at 6 p.m. at the ARHS theatre. All tickets $5. Contact CANSA at 661-1509 or student support worker Kris at ARHS.

Nappan United Church pancake day

March 17 - The Nappan United Church will be holding its annual pancake day on Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. Adults $7. Children (under 12) $4. Preschoolers free

March 18 - There will be a pancake supper at the Lower Shinimicas Hall Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Adults $7, children $3.

New Beginnings evening worship

March 18 - New Beginnings Evening Worship Service at St. Davids Presbyterian Church, Junction Road, Springhill. Music provided by Nightwatch. Service begins at 7 p.m.

CACL meeting

March 19 - CACL Amherst and District Branch holds its next meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19th at Trinity-St. Stephens United Church, Amherst. Any interested members of the public are welcome to attend. For information call 667-8433.

United Way annual meeting

March 20 - The 49th annual meeting of the United Way of Cumberland County begins at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Phythias Hall, 189 Church St., Amherst. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 667-2203.

Genealogy Coffee House

March 21 - There will be a Genealogy Coffee House at the Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Oxford from 6 to 9 p.m. Come in for Coffee and dessert and talk about your ancestors. Bring along the Family Bible. For more information call Eleanor at 447-3040. Sponsored by Cumb. Co. Genealogical Society. This is a county-wide organization so everyone is welcome.

Adult Craft Club at the

Amherst Library

March 22 - Adults are invited to the Four Fathers Memorial Library in Amherst on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. We will be making a stack of 10 homemade greeting cards using a rubber stamping technique. Cost for materials is $5. Call the library at 667-2549 to register.

Chili cook-off and sale

March 24 - Second annual chili cook-off and sale at Christ Church Parish Hall in Amherst, 4-6 p.m. Come and enter your chili or enjoy a bowl from the best chili makers in the area. For $6, one can get a bowl of chili, garlic bread, dessert and tea or coffee. To enter or for more information, call the Parish office at 667-2415 by March 20. Winner will receive The Best Chili Award.

March 24 - Kidney Foundation 2nd Annual Ceilidh Kitchen Party and Dance at the Knights of Columbus Hall Saturday, 9 p.m. to 1a.m. Tickets $10. Music By OFFSHORE.

March 31 - The Mens Maple Syrup Festival supper will be held Saturday at Trinity-St- Stephens United Church from 4:30 to 6: 30 p.m. Takeouts available, Mpale products for sale.

Pancake supper

March 31 - The Fenwick United Church will be hosting a pancake supper from 12-6 p.m. Supper is $6 for adults, $3.50 for children and pre-schoolers can eat for free.

April 7 - The L.A. Animal Shelter is having its Annual Easter Craft and Bake sale in the Amherst Centre Mall at the Zellers end of the mall from 10 to 2 p.m or until we are sold out.
