To the Editor,
Compliments are extended to the Amherst Daily News, CKDH and Tim Hortons for sponsoring a food drive in the Amherst area.
The food bank will definitely be busy this time of year as more and more families find it difficult to meet the inflationary demands for heating, electricity and rents.
May I suggest that next year, contact should be made with the major food stores requesting them to lower their pricing on No Name brands of goods being sought by the food bank.
Maybe the affected stores might set up individual displays in their stores, promoting the selected items for easy access by the donating public. It would also be fair to imprint the brown paper bag with the participating food store's logo. Lowering their pricing on these selected items will encourage more persons to buy and donate to the food bank.
I really like this approach you have taken to raise food donations and I shall be one of the donating public.
