To the Editor,
The Amherst Lions Club bought a piece of property adjacent our Cecil Small ball field in the West Highlands.
One suggestion for this is to build an open air rink on this property. This facility would be free to the citizens and youth of Amherst for general skating and perhaps for the occasional hockey game. It was also suggested that we try to make this a year round facility by offering road hockey and/or basketball nets at either end.
We as a club have a limited amount of money to spend, so try to use it to the best causes in the town. We don't want to put money into something that will not get well used.
I am doing a feasibility study with this in mind. We have a form on the Amherst town website that people can use. The outcome of the rink will depend on the number of replies we get.
