Community hall renovations finished

Diligent River -

The Diligent River Community Hall is now ready for use. Many volunteers made a big improvement in the kitchen area. The entire building has been painted and new counter top installed.

The Baptist church will hold its annual strawberry salad supper on Aug. 22. Be sure to mark that date on your calendar.
Blain Varner and Stephen Stronge won the horseshoe tournament in Port Greville. The annual Field Day was a success and the weather was delightful.
Sympathy is extended to the Cormier family of Five Islands on the passing of Ron Cormier.
Birthdays of note: Helen Dodsworth, Chezzetcook celebrated on July 31, Neal Varner, Moncton, N.B., on Aug. 2, Wayne Cormier on Aug. 4. Best wishes to all celebrating birthdays this month.
Brittany Morton, Halifax, was a recent visitor with her mom and dad.
Our great-grandson, Grayson, Amherst, spent a few days with his family here.
On July 19, the United Baptist Church held its first memorial service. The service was conducted by the pastor, Greg Doyle, and featured music by Crystal Morris and friend on guitar, Dale and John Wilson and special guest Gary Vickery of Springhill. Greg also sang a solo. Helen Morris played several selections on the organ.
Many made memorial donations in memory of former members or friends of the church. The service was well attended and much enjoyed by all.
Have a good week everyone and say "hi" to your neighbour.
