Hall work stalled by weather
Diligent River -
The weather is still the topic of conversation everywhere and it keeps one guessing as to what will come next. But it is only two weeks until spring. Don't hold your breath, though.
Kayla Orr spent her March Break visiting friends in New York. Kayla is a student at St. F. X. University.
Chelsi Cormier was a member of the Parrsboro ladies hockey team and spent the weekend in Halifax where they won the tournament. Chelsi is a nursing student in Moncton, N.B.
The Shore Drive Community Development Association will be holding its annual St. patrick's Day supper on Sunday, March 15 at the FPW Fire Hall. The meal includes Irish stew, homemade rolls and dessert will be dinner pies. The cost is $8 and proceeds are for community work. Easy listening music for your enjoyment will be provided. The time is 4 to 6 p.m.
The work at the Diligent River Hall has stalled until better weather and some of the workforce is in Florida. There is still much to be done before the hall can be used for our regular suppers, etc. The hall is an important part of our small community as we only have one church still open, and our store and post office have gone the way of many other unprofitable things. Those that work to maintain the hall are hopeful that the support of the community and outside areas prove to all that it is worth it.
Cuba is the destination point for Marjorie Gallant, Helen and John Dodsworth and Jack Hitchey. Two weeks without a power interruption, wow. You can't beat that.
Here is a thought:
You can agree to disagree and not be disagreeable while doing so.
Scientists have sent the Kepler rocket into space to find other worlds. Maybe they better find ways to look after the one they are living on.
Have a great week, and take care.
