New Salem - Hi again from Downtown New Salem, I hope you've all had a great week. I have been approached by a few people about the local news and they were wondering if I was willing to put news in from Fraserville to Apple River. I have said that if anyone has news from Fraserville to Apple River just give me a call and I will gladly put it in.

On Thursday my niece Brandy Thompson-Cameron of Masstown visited with Darrell Davis, myself and my family.

On Thursday Cathy Meyers went to Prince Edward Island for a few days to visit with friends.

My brother Randy Davis and his wife Wendy of Edmonton went to Halifax for a few days to visit his son Jason and returned here on Friday.

On Saturday my sister Debra Thompson of Truro visited with Darrell Davis, our brother Randy and his wife Wendy and myself and my family.

On Sunday the Remembrance Day Service was held at the cenotaph at the log building. The First Advocate Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders joined in the service and sang O Canada. The River Hebert Cadets were also there. Many wreaths were laid for the fallen soldiers by many individuals and groups. A luncheon was enjoyed afterwards. A big thank you is sent to those that participated and helped to organize.

On behalf of the Spencer's Island Community Association, Lorna Fletcher would like to say congratulations to Ratchford Merriam on being re-elected as councillor for our area and to Mackie Ross for being re-elected to our school board. They both work very diligently for our communities. She would also like to thank (Murray Scott) tourism, cultural and heritage for their generous donation to the Spencer's Island Community Association. Murray Scott also works very diligently for our little communities. This year the hall got electric heating and they wish to thank Ernie Morris for a job well done. They would also like to thank each and everyone who has helped on their association both past and present by donating articles for their sale, money donations and supporting the Spencer's Island Bingo. Without all these people the association wouldn't be what it is today. Bingo is every second week at the Advocate Fire Hall and the next bingo will be held on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. Come and bring a friend along.

The next community luncheon at the log building will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at noon.

Saturday, Dec. 6 will be the Downshore Christmas Market at the log building.

Mark Saturday, Dec. 13 on your calendar as The Advocate Girl Guides will be having a Christmas Tea at the Advocate Fire Hall.

Adult badminton is now going on at the Advocate School on Monday and Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. and the cost is $1.

A Community Christmas Party will be held again this year at the log building in December. I should have a specific date for you soon.

Well that's it for this week, have a great week everyone!
