Open house to mark 50th anniversary

New Canaan - My great-granddaughter Sammi-Jo Chapman of Tidnish spent the holiday weekend with me, returning home with her mother Kim on Sunday.

Brian Gilbert and friend Mike Kenny, Lower Sackville, were up to see Brians parents Mary and Cedric on the weekend, bringing birthday cake for his father. Other visitors were Joan and Angus Fife of Lakelands and Joyce and Wylie Gallagher of Southampton.

We would like to thank all who are giving donations to our cemetery fund. A memorial donation was received from Alta and Murray Fife in memory of his grandparents Lenora and Harley Fife; from Marina Quinn of Parrsboro in memory of her parents Annie and Carl Quinn and other loved ones; from Lois and Lewis Hebb of Parrsboro in memory of his grandparents Ines and Ralph Hebb and family members, and in memory of Loiss great-grandparents Emily and Steven Atkinson.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Doris and Glen Atkinson, West Brook, who will celebrate their 50th on Aug. 16. To help them celebrate, an open house will be held at the Southampton Community Centre from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16.

On Thursday, my daughter Debby Chapman of Tidnish and Beatrice Harkness, Chapman Settlement, visited with me.

In the afternoon, I was up to see my son Lyle and wife Betty in Nappan.

Those celebrating birthdays are Charles Wheaton on Aug. 16, Kim Chapman on Aug. 21 and Margo Gilbert on Aug. 24. Happy Birthday.
