War bride presented with bouquet
New Canaan - Congratulations to Michelle LeBlanc and Tony Wood of Tyndal Road, who were the lucky winners of the "Marry Me Halifax" wedding.
The dream wedding was on Saturday, May 17, and held at the Casino Nova Scotia in the Compass Room.
My granddaughter, Kim Chapman, and daughter, Sammi-Jo, of Tidnish, attended the wedding reception and dance, and told me everything was lovely.
On Sunday, my sister, Queenie Adams, and husband, Harold, Dartmouth, visited with me. They also visited with Harold's sisters, Hilda and Anna, and the family members in Southampton.
On May 25, I celebrated my birthday with my family, who came for the day.
Deepest sympathy to Roy and the family of Wanda Halfkenny, Joggins, who passed away on May 15.
Sympathy to the family of Doreen Ripley (nee Brayley) of Amherst, who passed away on May 16 at the Cumberland Regional Health Centre, Upper Nappan.
Mary and Cedric Gilbert attended the program in the Baptist church, Springhill, on Thursday, May 15, when the war brides were honoured.
Last fall the students from West End School and their teacher, Linda Scott, visited with Mary and other war brides making videos and learning the experiences of war brides when they came to Canada.
During the evening these videos were shown.
Many were pleased to receive a lovely bouquet, presented to her by Michael Skidmore.
A nice lunch was enjoyed by all.
