The Thanksgiving Service at Brookdale United was well attended considering that so many folk were either away or had company. The service was under the guidance of our minister, Margie Patterson and assisted by Wayne Jarvis. Members of the Pastoral Charge presented the presentation of thankful gifts.

The Christ Candle Jean Miller; the Bible Pam Harrison; Cup and Loaf Linda Long and M&S Jim Long and our Basket of Food for Others by Roy Tower.

Jim and Linda Long gave a presentation on the M&S symbol and its rainbow of colour. Jean Miller and Marjorie Milner received the offering. Pam Harrison spoke about the program United for Peace as sponsored by the United Church of Canada.

Little paper doves were given to those in attendance to sign their names on and are to be given back to the Faith in Action Committee.

Pat Parker was our organist and the choir, consisting of four and a half members from Brookdale and six and a half from Immanuel. (The reason for the halves is that we have one little lady that sings in both choirs so we share her.)

They sang Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me. Communion was served by Betty Ann Hoeg, Elder from Trinity, River Hebert and Jean Miller, elder at Brookdale. It was a lovely Thanksgiving service. We truly thank all those who came and shared in the service also Shelia and her husband, from British Columbia. Im sorry I didnt get their names. I neglected to ask them to sign our guest book as well.

Must be age related.

Debbie and Walter Coates held a birthday party on Sunday for her mother, Joan (Miller- McLelland) Trenholm at the Trenholm home in Sackville, N.B., on Sunday, Oct. 7. Joan had two granddaughters visiting from Alberta, Penny and Pammy McLelland. Joans son, Cecil McLelland, also celebrated his birthday. Cecils wife Rose and her parents were there as well as Joans daughter, Honey and her family. It has been awhile since we have seen Joans grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Birthday wishes go out to Pam Harrison and all others who will be another year older.

Anniversary greetings go out to Delbert and Gloria Fraser who celebrated on Sunday along with Thanksgiving and they had all their family home for the holiday.

Happy 50th anniversary to Dave and Carol Leblanc who celebrated on Sept. 29. Also to Josephine and Roy Fromm who celebrate this week. Blessings to all.

Time to close with some Truisms.

1 - According to CARP, Canada has more than 4,000 citizens over 100.

2 -Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you not because they are not nice but because you are.

May your week be blessed.
