BROOKDALE - Greetings from Brookdale. We are still having cold, cold days but with some sun and a few snow showers that disappear before the need to shovel happens. The longer days of daylight are a blessing. I think most people prefer the light to the dark. The light lightens our spirit.

Pam Harrison was our lay speaker at church on Sunday and as part of her service she told us and showed us a power point on the Gabarus Church that burnt down in Gabarus, Cape Breton. (Marion Bridge is part of this pastoral charge if you havent heard of Gabarus) The Worship and Praise Committee of the Cumberland Pastoral Charge decided to assist this church that burnt to the ground. They were able to have a communion table cross made, an M&S Banner, 12 choir gowns and several hymn books and bibles were purchased from monies donated by folk who wished to help. Pam and another committee member delivered all these to the folk in Gabarus. This pastoral charge also had another disaster. There was a bad house fire in another part of the charge and the organist from that church died in the fire and her husband is still in the hospital. They are definitely in need of prayers.
It seems that there has been a lot of fires this past winter resulting in deaths. Bad things do happen but it is a lot harder to deal with when it is closer to home or folk we know.
Im short on time today so will close with this one comment; Even if youre on the right track, youll get run over if you just sit there.
Blessings to all.
