Pair of books draw interest from reader

I had a nice phone call from a gentleman in Victoria, B.C.

I had a nice phone call from a gentleman in Victoria, B.C. He read in this paper he suscribes to about the two books written by the late Jim Brown of Springhill, Miracle Town and Moose River Disaster. He asked me if I could arrange to have him buy them which I have done through Audrey Ryan and Arlene Brown.

Audrey is going to package and mail them to Henry Newcombe who is a brother to the late Lenoard Newcombe very well known veteran here in Amherst.

Henry, also a veteran from Maccan, left in 1947 to make his home in B.C. with wife and family later. He will send the cost of books with postage. He appreciates it very much. I will write some parts of Moose River later when read more would appreciate calls if anyone interested. Emma Fowler had a busy birthday on Feb. 23 having friends and relatives visit, call, send flowers for her 93rd not 94th special day.

Myrna McNairn, Amherst, celebrated her birthday at home with husband Jim, daughter Anne and husband Mike Ritter of Halifax, son Scott McNairn and friend Shelly from River Hebert. An enjoyable supper of Chinese food, beverages with two birthday cakes cut and served. (March 2, 2007)

On March 14th, Beryl Murray of Springhill will celebrate her 89th birthday, next day on the 15th Beryl and husband Jim Murray will be together for 66 years of marital bliss. All the best to this fine couple, no doubt their daughter Heather and Eric and family will celebrate the occasion with them.

Lots of birthdays on March 15th: Al (Bib) Breau; Arnold (Hoc) Chisholm, Colleen Hunter on March 17th: Jenny Nelson and Adam Hunter, all in Amherst.

My condolences to Jack Legere in the loss of his wife, Shirley. To the family and very many friends. Shirleys sudden accidental death leaves all who will remember her as a very caring lady.
