Support the Mini Walk

Maccan -

A special event of special interest is the first Mini Walk of Hope, hosted by Amherst on Sept. 13. So many especially young mothers are being claimed by dreaded ovarian cancer. This year about 2,500 women will be newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The Mini Walk of Hope organizers are Evelyn Rushton at 661-2119 or Charlotte Boss at 667-9580. Please phone either of these ladies for information or if you wish to give a donation. This important event will have registration from 1 until 2 p.m. Sept 13. Following an approximate 20 minute walk, special events will be held at the Lions Den, including music by Blue Horizon.

Dave and Dayle Wilson and Hope Harrison attended the James Bell, George Hamilton IV program at First Baptist Church on Sunday evening. The event on behalf of Drop Inn Ministries, Canada, of which James Bell is director, was absolutely delightful and refreshing. A very belated welcome to Maccan to James Bell and his family. Times have changed too much, such a few short years ago we knew our neighbours (our neighbourhood was for miles around) by socializing.
Bruce Harrison, Edmonton, was home to attend the wedding of his daughter Lynn and David of Moncton on Sept. 5, a caller on Donald and Hope Harrison.
Services in the Maccan Baptist Church are back on schedule Sept. 6. The service was in Maccan at 9:30 a.m, on Sept. 13 it will be in River Hebert at 9:30 a.m.
Get well wishes are sent to our former neighbour, Vera Gilroy of Gables, who is recovering from a broken hip.
