The recreation department here at Gables is saying goodbye to its summer student Michelle Dupuis. It was a joy to have her, and we wish her well as she continues her studies.

We welcome new staff member Stan Wilband to the department and look forward to getting to know him.
Upcoming events on the recreation calendar are: Sept. 2 - pickle making; Sept. 3 - Popsicle cart; Sept. 4 - Back to school spelling bee; Sept. 9 - Music by Little Nashville; Sept. 11 - Tea and crumpet social. Also mark Sept.19 on your calendar; it is the 4th annual Lynda Burke Memorial Walk.
Many recall my story about the Brown family, and the late Leroy and Georgina, who gave birth to 23 children. Her granddaughter Lisa is nursing here and has informed me her mom is still residing in River Hebert. There are 13 children still living of Georgina's 23, four boys and nine girls, and three of her girls and one boy are living in the area in River Hebert, Joggins and Tidnish, and nine are away, living in Ontario, and Calgary. I am sure they would have some fond we would enjoy hearing about. River Hebert has many residents at Gables now. In fact, last week one very lovely lady came here to reside -Lyall Wolfe. She is a pleasure to met, and tells about her love for and time spent with her horses. My condolences go to the family of the late Angus Henwood of Springhill. He was a long-time friend of mine.
