We had another wild weekend with a tropical storm called Danny. It started to rain really hard around 7p.m. on Saturday so we had heavy rain and high winds most of the night.

Our lights flicker about 11:30 p.m. but came right back on at the cottage. There was some damage from the wind such as flagpoles and branches.
I think most people were prepared. Let's hope the long weekend treats the Maritimes better.
Our sincere sympathy is extended to Jean Thompson and family on the death of her husband, Gary.
Also our best wishes and prayers go out to Shirley MacTavish. Shirley had the misfortune to fall and break her hip while visiting her sister in Ontario.
Blake Shipley has returned to Calgary after spending a month in Brookdale and area. He was visiting his grandparents, Bernice and David Shipley and great grandparents, Lois and Laurie Shipley both of Brookdale.
I had to put heat on both Friday and Saturday night but I came in at suppertime yesterday as Jackie and Marie and I were going to see George Hamilton 1V. When I used to watch TV several years ago I enjoyed the musical shows especially the Grand Ole Oprey. George is still long and lean and at 72 his voice still sounds as good. He has a great sense of humour and appears to be the gentleman that he always was.
He participated in the service at First Baptist on Sunday morning and there was a corn boil following the service, a first for George, as he had never heard of one before. His wife is on the hospitality committee at their church and they have a community supper every Wednesday night so he thought they could introduce their congregation to a corn boil.
The program was organized by James Bell of Drop Inn Ministries who is a singer and a guitarist in his own right.
He is an Irish lad and moved to Amherst almost a year ago and is very involved in Drop Inn Ministries here in Amherst as well as Moncton. They have a Thrift Shop in front of the YMCA downtown. If you want more information you can drop in to their shop or go on line at info@dropinministries.ca. Both James Bell and George Hamilton the 1V had a CD for purchase. Saturday night they did a show in River Hebert.
Immanuel United Church will hold a Blueberry Festival on Wednesday Sept. 16 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the church. The meal includes Turkey or Ham Salad Plate and Blueberry or other desserts. Cost for adults is $ 8 and $ 4 for children.
If you are still at your cottage on September 25th, Lorneville United Church is having a Pot Luck Supper and Card Party. Cost is $ 5.00 and you are requested to bring your favourite food dish and your own dishes.
Something to think about - Longing for things that would make us happy is what keeps us unhappy!
Weekly quote: Religion is meant to be bread for daily use, not cake for special occasions.
