New drapes a welcome addition

Events upcoming from the recreation department at Gables include music by Bob Grimmett on Aug. 7; the ice cream walk on Aug. 7, Western free pony rides and chuck wagon lunch with games on Aug. 10, music by Linda Chapman on Aug. 12; lunch out at the Glooscap Restaurant in Parrsboro on Aug. 13, and the Gables-Town of Amherst street hockey games on Aug. 14.

I have a new roommate, Joslene Dahar. The big thing these days is we are having new drapes hung. I hear they are lovely.
My grandson Jason and friend Tara have returned to Calgary after visiting family here, and with is sister in Saint John.
My daughter Marilyn and her husband Larry of New York and my daughter MaryAnn, here, all celebrated birthdays.
A new baby born was born to Karl and Jill Carter on July 22, Logan Matthews, a brother for Owen and Madeline. They are now visiting grandparents, Red Curry and Maynard and Joan Carter.
It is with great sadness that I extend sympathy to Ann (Speight) Rachon and family for the loss of her husband Claude, who our family had the pleasure to have met.
I had a phone call from my nephew Charlie Swan in Truro. He said he's feeling good after recovering from a minor stroke.
