A very intense Easter bonnet contest was held at Gables with staff making bonnets for the residents. The winners were: Junior Trask (Most Creative), Shawn Chapman (Most Humourous), Marion Quigley (Most Beautiful), Helen Mason (Most Colourful), Sheila MacAloney (Most Original), Lorraine Coffin (Judges' Choice), Frances Legere (Honourable Mention), and Bill Jollymore (Best All Around).
Thanks to the staff or the tremendous effort they put into making the contest such a success.
Other upcoming events at Gables are a musical jamboree Saturday, April 11; music by Laurie McGraw April 14; music by Pic 'n' Grin April 16, the annual memorial service April 17, music with Stephen Crowe April 18, and on April 22 the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
My husband's sister from Springhill, Yvonne (Breau) Merritt, is now a resident here. Bonnie brought her to see me. Yvonne had been residing at Centennial Villa for quite some time.
With the passing of "Our Guy," all I can say is what a loss. My condolences go out to June, his family and to Mable, his mother.
Condolences to the family of Harold Boucher, a great friend from Springhill, and also to Tom Beaton's and Phyllis McNutt's families, Carol (Babineau) Logan and tom MacDonald.
Congratulations to Don Tabor with your new venture in politics.
Recently Don and Kim Porter, their daughter Brittany, and her friend Lauren returned form a visit to the Dominican Republic, where they met new friends, Sarah and Kyle Casey of Ontario, who will be visiting here this summer.
