Local roads in need of repaving work

New Canaan -

The West Brook Road is never closed to heavy traffic and, recently, Cumberland Paving has been moving in heavy equipment to Canaan Mountain.

We in this community would like to know when they are going to upgrade both the New Canaan and West Brook Roads.
We feel the West Brook Road needs repaved and sides built up, not just a few potholes fixed here and there as they did last summer. They will be hauling a lot of sand and gravel out of here this summer, breaking it down more. We in this community pay taxes and deserve a decent road to drive on.
On Easter Sunday my son Lyle and wife Betty, Nappan, spent the day with me. The rest of my family called, but stayed home because of the weather.
On Friday, my sister Queenie Adams and husband Harold from Dartmouth visited with me, then they sent the weekend with his sisters, Hilda and Anna, in Southampton. Friends will be sorry to learn that their brother, Jim Adams, New Glasgow, passed away on Saturday, April 11. Deepest sympathy to all the family.
On Easter Sunday, Alta and Murray Fife were dinner guests with their son, Kenneth and wife Iris, Springhill.
Brian Gilbert, Lower Sackville, was up to visit his parents, Mary and Cedric Gilbert, recently.
On Good Friday, Margo and Skip Gilbert were happy to have family members home; daughter Patricia and husband Jason Forbes; sons Joey and Jeremy and fiancÉe Lisa Vogels, all of Amherst; Janie and Angus Pettigrew, Parrsboro.
Deepest sympathy to the family of Evelyn Wasson, who passed away on April 6.
Tanya Spears, Bedford, spent Easter weekend with her parents, Linda and Alan Lake. Sunday guests were son Scott, companion Sandy and son Seth, Parrsboro; also Mark and his son Dylan.
