Button draw cards for sale

Brookdale -

Greetings from Brookdale.

We have had a few days of fairly good weather but it's not going to last. Ontario is having lots of snow and if we are lucky, it will be rain for us. The moles are coming to life with a vengeance.

The barbecue is on display at Canadian Tire. Button cards are also available at Pharmasave. There are 20 prizes and the price is still $5.

Also on Good Friday (April 10,) there will be a pancake brunch at the Leicester Fire Hall sponsored by the Fireman's Auxiliary. If I remember correctly, besides pancakes, they have bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, muffins and lots of other tasty food. It is a popular event and it goes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the cost is only $6 for adults and $3 for children.
Chignecto Presbytery of the United Church will meet on Wednesday, April 15 at St. Paul's United Church in Riverview.

The Cumberland County Hospice Palliative Care Society is working hard to make a difference for end of life folk. What we really need is a hospice but we need the support of all government agencies as well as locally. Our president, Gerry Helm, is one hard-working lady who has a dream and is trying to make it a reality.
The Brookdale Sewing Circle is having a social evening at the Brookdale Hall with the theme: "Aprons with an Attitude" and the ladies of Immanuel United Church are invited to share in this fun evening because Immanuel and Brookdale, as of June 30, will no longer be in the same Pastoral Charge. It will seem strange, as they have been together for 85 years.
On Wednesday evening, April 22, at Trinity United Church Hall, starting at 6 p.m., there will be a supper of scallop potatoes, beans and ham with all the dressings for $10. Following supper you will meet some of the folk from Tatamagouche who were involved with "The Week the Women Went." Your ticket for the fun night, other than the supper, is a mug. Bring your camera and join in the fun.
Now that we are coming up to Easter Sunday all folk are requested to bring in their Lenten Calendars. The funds raised will go to mission and service for the work of the United Church.
We thank Linda Allen for filling in as our organist this past Sunday. Music is a big part of worship.
On closing - Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship. (Buddha. C. 563-483)
