Bingo to support substation
Hi again from Downtown New Salem. Last week I was so surprised that the snow was gone and now here it is back again. Oh well it's nice to have a bit of snow for Christmas now... isn't it?
Last week Avery Gordon's first birthday was celebrated by many family and friends at Tammy Fields home.
December is Food For Fines Month at the library. Just bring in a food item for a fine and it will be forgiven. The food items will be donated to our local food bank.
On Friday, Dec. 12, Fireman's Bingo will be happening at the fire hall starting at 7 p.m. All proceeds will be going towards the new substation in Apple River so we can house a fire truck there and have a quicker response time for Apple River and New Salem. So come on out and sponsor your fire department so we can get this done!
Mark Saturday, Dec. 13 on your calendar as the Advocate Girl Guides will be having a Christmas Tea at the Advocate Fire Hall. The cost is $5 and it will be from 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 15 is the Christmas Concert at the Advocate School. Storm date will be Wednesday, Dec. 17.
On Tuesday, Dec. 16 a puppet show will be held at the Advocate library from 3 to 4 p.m. for all ages.
The second annual community Christmas party will held again this year at the log building on Dec. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring the whole family for an evening of fun!
On Thursday, Dec. 18 I will be doing a couple of Christmas crafts and some Christmas fun at the Advocate Library for the children from 3 to 4 p.m. Please call 392-2214 to register and the cost will be $1.
The annual Christmas Eve service will be held at Spencer's Island Church at 4 p.m. with Mrs. Virginia MacGillivray presiding.
Adult badminton is now going on at the Advocate school on Monday and Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. and the cost is $1.
