Bazaar to take place Aug. 7-9

New Salem - Hi again from Downtown New Salem. I hope youve all had a wonderful two weeks. Its so great that it is summer but I dont like this humidity at all. I wonder if there is a place anywhere that the weather is perfect and no bugs?

Bailee and Jesse Downs of Lower Sackville recently spent three weeks with their grandparents, Virginia and Dwight MacGillivary.

Marilyn and Dara Stronge wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to their family and many friends for hosting their 45th wedding anniversary. They wish a warm thank you for all the beautiful cards, gifts, phone calls and best wishes that they received and for making their anniversary a memorable day.

The community bulletin board is now located at Advocate Country Store on the front wall.

Cape Chignecto Provincial Park held a successful Park Day on Saturday with many visitors and a wonderful barbecue.

On Saturday, July 25 Chignecto Manor is having its annual strawberry shortcake tea.

On Saturday, July 26 there will be a lobster boil at Fundy Tides Campground at 6 p.m. Call 392-2606 to order.

On Friday, Aug. 8 the Advocate Country Store will be celebrating its grand opening. There will crafts for the children, free samples, draws for prizes and lots more.

The annual bazaar is coming up with a variety show being held at the Advocate school on Thursday, Aug. 7, an auction at the log building on Mills Road on Friday, Aug. 8 and, on Saturday, the parade will start at 11 a.m. from the post office to the Advocate school, where games of chance, the bouncy tent, hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and sausages will be available, vendors will be in the gymnasium, Bingo will be held inside and much more. The day will end with the annual salad supper in the gymnasium from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, Aug. 12 we will be doing fairy houses again at Cape Chignecto Provincial Park at 10 a.m. for ages three and up. Cost will be $1 and please call the Advocate library at 392-2214 to register.

The Downshore Market is now open for another season at the log building on Mills Road starting at 9 a.m. till 12 noon on Saturday mornings. Come and see what the vendors have to offer and have a tea or coffee and meet old and new friends alike!

On Thursday evenings fun soccer will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Advocate school soccer field. Ages four to 100 are invited to come and have some fun. Cost $1.
