New Salem - Hi again from Downtown New Salem, I hope you've all had a wonderful week.

Congratulations to Rachel and Mike Collins on the birth of their daughter, Faith, in the Truro Hospital. She is the little sister to Emma, Adam and Mikayla.

On Saturday evening, Mike Berry of Advocate Country Store drew the winning ticket for a homemade quilt that was done and donated by Louise Spicer. The winner of the quilt was Nick (Robert) Morris of Halifax. He is the father of Lisa Morris and grandfather to Robert, Gabby and Denver. The proceeds of the quilt were donated to the Mike Cole fund.

Last week, Ellen Johnston spent a few days at her daughter Shelly's in Halifax and then visited with her mother, Ethel Slocum in Masstown.

This Saturday, May 17 the Downshore Market will be starting for another season. It will again be held at the log building on Mills Road starting at 9 a.m. till 12 noon. Come and see what the vendors have to offer and have a tea or coffee and meet old and new friends alike!

On Saturday, May 24 a breakfast, spring bazaar and bake sale will be held by the Advocate Baptist Church and this will be held at the Advocate Fire Hall, starting at 9 a.m.

On Tuesday, May 27, prize Bingo will be held at the Advocate school at 7 p.m.
