SPRINGHILL On April 14, Marvin Megeney celebrated his 94th birthday at the Knights of Pythias Hall in Springhill at a party hosted by his daughter Joann Gilles and granddaughter Trish Card. Marvin, the sociable and fine man he is, requested there be only best wishes from the many relatives and friends attending, who came from Fredericton, Halifax, and Amherst.

Marvin, the sociable and fine man he is, requested there be only best wishes from the many relatives and friends attending, who came from Fredericton, Halifax, and Amherst. Lynn Sarty played beautiful music on the piano, and we cant believe there was no dancing. Lunch of sandwiches, vegetable and cheese trays were served with beverages and a birthday cake made by Lois Spence, was cut and served.
Murray Scott attended bringing a certificate from Prime Minister Harper and the government. We wish you more years of good health, Marvin.
One of Springhills finest ladies, Alberta Schiefer will celebrate her 96th birthday on April 22, and also another Springhill lady, Minerva Boran will celebrate her 92nd birthday on April 26.
Here in Amherst on April 28, Kylie Currie will no doubt be home from college in Fredericton to celebrate with his dad Red on the 26th and sister Jill Carter up from Auburn, U.S.A.

Kay Pugsley of Amherst returned home on April 16 from Waterdown, Ont., after spending 10 days visiting her son Steven and wife Denise and their two daughters Emma and Rachel. While there, Leons brother Doug and wife Elda, who reside in Cambridge, spent some time visiting with Kay. Doug is a Springhiller, who says he enjoys The Citizen each week and asked Kay Who is Helen?
The snow held some up from visiting over Easter holidays, but not all. Dave and Tammy Davis and children Chad and Alicia from Saint John, N.B., visited with Tammys mom Angela Pettigrew, her brother Eddie and Diana Pettigrew in Springhill, and over at Five Islands with Daves family. In Springhill Pam Lowther from Fredericton is spending some time with her mom Evie Barton and all the family travelled with Debby Robilee who is visiting with her mom Betty McConnick in Amherst.
Attending the interment service for the late Julia Ross Bennett on April 14 in Oxford were Fred Bennett and granddaughter Sharon from British Columbia, and granddaughter Rita from Bridgewater, son Harry Ross of Halifax and other relatives.
Karl Schaschl is now convalescing at home after being a patient at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre here. It is good to see him out of the hospitalyou cant keep a good man down!
